GROUTING AN EASY, FAIRLY AVERAGE,
WELL BEHAVED HOLE
IF YOUR DECISION IS TO MAKE THE MIX THINNER
THIS IS NEVER A WISE DECISION
NEVER MAKE THE GROUT THINNER WHILE GROUTING!
-
The aim is to inject as much cement as possible. Adding water to the grout reduces the cement content and
hence the amount injected.
-
The thinner grout will prefer to enter the wider cracks leaving previously injected thicker grout in
narrower cracks to develop thixotropic stiffening and hence lack of propagation of pressure. These inhibit
further travel of that grout. Hence you can get bad grouting.
-
The need for bleeding off the excess water is increased.
Let the simulation show what should be done.
